ITG highlights the role of oxygen at InfoSALMON seminar

At the Aquaculture Oxygenation Seminar, ITG shared how proper oxygenation directly contributes to salmon welfare.

Puerto Varas, April 24, 2025 – Álvaro García Sepúlveda, ITG’s Commercial Manager, opened the seminar with his presentation “Oxygenation: the best salmon cross the finish line”, a dynamic and inspiring talk that invited the audience to reconnect with the true purpose of oxygenation: fish welfare. Through humor, personal anecdotes and parallels with his experience as a 42K marathon runner, García illustrated that—just as in endurance sports—without sufficient oxygen, performance and results cannot be achieved.

During his presentation, García compared salmon to elite athletes, emphasizing how proper oxygenation helps reduce stress, supports overall health and allows fish to express their natural behavior, in line with the five freedoms of animal welfare.

This message reflected ITG’s purpose of delivering technological solutions that ensure stable and controlled oxygen levels at farming sites, promoting healthier fish and stronger production outcomes.

Following the technical sessions, a closing cocktail brought together the ITG team, clients, scientists and specialized media, strengthening relationships and opening new conversations around animal welfare and productivity in aquaculture.
